SUDDENLY ONE SUMMER by Julie James ~ Review

SUDDENLY ONE SUMMER
by Julie James
Releasing June 2nd

SYNOPSIS

Divorce lawyer Victoria Slade has seen enough unhappy endings to swear off marriage forever. That doesn't mean she's opposed to casual dating—just not with her cocky new neighbor, who is as gorgeous and tempting as he is off-limits. But once she agrees to take on his sister's case, she's as determined to win as ever—even if that means teaming up with Ford…

Investigative journalist Ford Dixon is bent on finding the man who got his sister pregnant and left her high and dry. He's willing to partner with Victoria, despite the fact that the beautiful brunette gets under his skin like no other woman. He might not be looking to settle down, but there's no denying the scorching attraction between them. Still, the more time he spends with Victoria, the more he realizes that the one woman as skeptical about love as he is might be the only woman he could really fall for…

REVIEW

Julie James gives us a charming story and amazing chemistry in Suddenly One Summer. Her newest standalone releases on June 2nd and it is one you will not want to miss!!!
he was the dating equivalent of a layover. A brief, hopefully fun, pit stop on the way to their final destination.
Victoria Slade is one sassy successful attorney. She is driven and independent but also tender when the situation required. I LOVED her!
"Why are you still single?”
“Maybe I’m no one’s idea of Mr. Right.”“I’m not even going to stroke your ego by responding to that.”
Ford Dixon is an Investigative Reporter who knows how to look at every story from a different angle. He is HILARIOUS, intense and can be a real a$$hole. BUT at the end of the day he is caring and always does the right thing.

This story is truly a case of first impressions are not always correct...  After a burglary, Victoria temporarily moves into to the condo next to Ford. They don’t exactly get off on the right foot. BUT soon find themselves working on a case together. I truly enjoyed their banter and their undercover work was priceless!

The secondary characters are a great addition to this story! AND I loved how Ms. James highlighted so many of Chicago’s local hotspots. Since there are no beaches in this story I am not really sure how the cover connects to the story BUT it certainly does not take away from it either.

Ms. James creates characters that are well developed, the story was definitely exciting and the chemistry was off the charts. If you are looking for an entertaining story and one that is a real page turner… SUDDENLY ONE SUMMER is your next read!
Rating: 4 stars (standalone)
