SILVER BASTARD by JOANNA WYLDE ~ Review & Excerpt

SILVER BASTARD (SILVER VALLEY #1)
JOANNA WYLDE
Release Date: April 7th

SYNOPSIS

Fourteen months. For fourteen months, Puck Redhouse sat in a cell and kept his mouth shut, protecting the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. Then he was free and it was time for his reward—full membership in the club, along with a party to celebrate. That’s when he saw Becca Jones for the first time and set everything in motion. Before the night ended he’d violated his parole and stolen her away from everything she knew.

Five years. It was five years ago that Puck destroyed Becca and saved her all in one night. She’s been terrified of him ever since, but she’s even more terrified of the monsters he still protects her from... But Becca refuses to let fear control her. She’s living her life and moving forward, until she gets a phone call from the past she can't ignore. She has to go back, and there’s only one man she can trust to go with her—the ex-con biker who rescued her once before.

Puck will help her again, but this time it’ll be on his terms. No more lies, no more tears, and no more holding back what he really wants...

REVIEW

Becca Jones might be my property in the eyes of the club, but the reality was that she owned me and there wasn’t a damned thing I could do about it.
Silver Bastard is the first novel in her new series, the Silver Valley. It is NOT necessary to read the Reaper’s MC series but it will give you more knowledge of some of the secondary characters you’ll meet in this story.

After fourteen long months behind bars Puck Redhouse is ready to cut loose.  He finally received his full membership into the club, enjoying a party held in his honor, when in walks Becca Jones.  She is all innocent and sweet, just what he had been fantasizing about for months.  Their first encounter is anything but romantic, however that night was the beginning of so much more...

Fast forward five years.

Becca is finally living a quiet and normal life after surviving a horrific childhood.  She is determined to avoid the world her mother forced on her therefore she avoids the one person that has truly protected her for the last five years.

The MC life is the only life Puck has ever known. He is all sorts of biker-alpha goodness. Wise beyond his age and prison only added to his persona.  Of course his moral compass points in unknown directions but under all the dark and moody is a man in love with Becca Jones.
"We've been in a relationship for five years now," Puck said, his voice hard. "It wasn't normal, it wasn't exclusive...Hell, I don't know what the fuck it was, but we both know that's that truth. Whatever's between us, it's been there since that first night we met."

Is is possible to love someone from afar for five years???  Becca is no stranger to the MC world and the controlling men that consume it.  Can she love a person that represents the very world she is desperately trying to avoid...
“No more games, Becca. You know who and what I am, and you know that when I fuck you, it won't’ be pretty. I don’t do pretty.”
I highly recommend any of Joanna’s books. As a matter of fact when a reader ask for an MC recommendation she top of the list!!! Her stories are edgy, steamy, heart-wrenching and healing all in one amazing book! Silver Bastard does vary from her traditional MC read. The story is very complex and it is really building the foundation for the story that will run through the whole Silver Valley series.
Rating: 4 stars (standalone; Dual POV)

EXCERPT

“The Longnecks—they’re the MC my stepdad hung around with—they kept a lot of club whores around. Do the Silver Bastards do that, too?”

“Yup,” she replied. “It’s a free country and the brothers bring guests here all the time. Some of them stick around, some of them don’t. Some find they aren’t as welcome as they thought.”

“Doesn’t that bother you?”

“Boonie’s dick is the only one that matters to me,” she replied, her voice matter-of-fact. “As for the women, I care less about who they’re sleeping with than how they act the rest of the time. Like I said, fuck with the sisters and you won’t last. Bridget won’t be back if she keeps this shit up.”
“Old ladies didn’t get to make those decisions in the Long- necks.”

Darcy smiled sweetly. “We don’t get to make those decisions in the Silver Bastards, either. Yet the right decisions still magically happen. Nobody knows how, really. Guess it’s just all our good karma coming back to us.”

My mouth dropped. Darcy winked.

“You think those men don’t need us?” she asked. “Boonie likes sleeping next to me. Gets cold and lonely when all the old ladies take a girls’ weekend in Seattle. Would be even colder and lonelier if we didn’t come back, and one time we forgot to for nearly a week. Fortunately things worked out and we found our way home again. Now things tend to work out faster.”

My eyes went wide.

“You serious?”

“Do I look like a woman who will eat shit?”

Point taken.

“Let’s get this trash out. I’m sure Puck will be looking for you soon, and I want to make sure all the girls meet you first. That boy’s crazy about you—it’s cute. Like a pit bull crushing on a kitten.”
