Born into a life of privilege and secrets, Nora Blakely has everything any nineteen-year-old girl could desire. She’s an accomplished pianist, a Texas beauty queen, and on her way to Princeton after high school. She’s perfect…

Leaving behind her million dollar mansion and Jimmy Choos, she becomes a girl hell-bent on pushing the limits with alcohol, drugs, and meaningless sex.

Then she meets her soulmate. But he doesn’t want her.

When it comes to girls, twenty-five-year old Leo Tate has one rule: never fall in love. His gym and his brother are all he cares about…until he meets Nora. He resists the pull of their attraction, hung up on their six year age difference.

As they struggle to stay away from each other, secrets will be revealed, tempers will flare, and hearts will be broken.

Welcome to Briarcrest Academy…where sometimes, the best things in life are

EXCERPT
Leo Resists Nora

As if he’d made a decision, he pulled me out into the quiet hallway. Once we were alone, he said, “Now, about last night—” he stopped, appearing stuck on what to say.

“Yeah?”

He took two steps away from me, like he needed some space between us, like what he was going to say was difficult. He ran his hand through his hair furiously, pulling on the ends a little. “Nora, look, I think you’re a pretty girl, but there won’t be anything between us.”

My face flushed because I had acted inappropriately last night. Like a slut, really. Yet I didn’t regret it. And then there was my bad list. I wanted him for my meaningless sex. Still.

“Because you think I’m too young.”

“Yes.” He blew out a breath. “I’m sorry if I come across as a prick here, but I don’t want you to get the wrong idea about me. I don’t do serious relationships ever, and you deserve something good, not just a quick fuck.”

I stared at his full lips, not holding back. “I like it when you say ‘fuck.’”

REVIEW BY STEPH

I couldn't wait to get my hands on Very Bad Things.  Ilsa has been teasing us for weeks with some amazing teaser pics and lots of HOT HOT pictures of Parker Hurley a/k/a Leo Tate.  This book more than met my expectations!

By all appearances Nora is the model student at Briarcrest Academy.  She is in the running to be class valedictorian, accomplished in so many extra curricular activities and has a very bright future ahead of her as she paves the way to Princeton University.  But sadly, this is a a facade.  Nora is crumbling under the lies and control her mother has over her.

"If these people only knew the dirty truth about me.  How weak I was.  How I was dying a little bit every day in small doses."

Nora's mother and father are very prominent successful people in their affluent Dallas suburb. Nora's Dad is a successful attorney and from an old family money.  Nora's Mom is a BITCH!  In every sense of the word.  She is driven and is willing to walk all over anyone to get what she wants.  She keeps a close tight leash on Nora and one that is unraveling at a scary pace.

Leo Tate..... oh where to start!  Leo is the total swoon worthy package.  Leo was forced to grow up at the the age of eighteen.  He became the guardian of his younger brother and took over his father's flailing health club whereby changing it into a successful business.  Leo is passionate, talented and all the yummy goodness I love in a book boyfriend!  The one thing Leo is not.... he is not looking for a committed relationship.

"Nora Blakely was everything I avoided when it came to girls.  Her kind expected love and commitments, two things I'd run away from a long time ago."

Even though no words where spoken the moment Leo and Nora "meet" it is electric.

"her eyes opened, and when her green ones found mine, I swear, it felt like someone hit the pause button on the universe, and she was all I could see"

This story has so many emotional facets.  Yet some of the characters are so stable they will literally guide you through and hold your had doing so!  I particularly fell in love with Leo's brother, Sebastian.  We will get Sebastian's story in the second Briarcrest book coming out this winter.

VBT had me on the edge of my seat.  I was searching for Nora's happiness and aching for Leo to come to his senses!  Ilsa is brilliant and you will definitely want to follow her career! Grab this truly amazing HOT read and embrace all the characters!  This is 5 stars and probably more!!!
